What I’ve been up to.
I’m part of this challenge to meet or exceed at least one goal through September. The idea is to jump start into making the change a habit. Mine is/was to write 20 minutes per day, 5 days a week and publish 2 blogs here per week. I’m not doing so great.
I had some minor surgery on the 6th, and I did ok up until then. It’s amazing how easily we are deterred from what we want to do. I had my pacemaker replaced. That should not have sidelined me for a week, but it did! I’ve decided to call last week ‘the lost week’ and get right back at it today! So, here I am!
The group that’s doing this challenge is over 3,500 strong! It’s a huge group! The cool thing is we’re there to encourage each other and lift each other up when we fall. It’s on Facebook, but it’s a closed group. Sorry, you’ll have to wait till next year. (If you follow Jon Acuff, you’ll know when it’s happening again!)
I’ve found a surprising amount of encouragement and help within the group. I’m fairly sure not everyone on there is posting, at least not regularly, but I’d like to think they’re benefiting from those that are. We have an ‘anthem’ to say each morning and evening, as well.
What I really wanted to say about all that is this…set goals. Make them concrete and doable. Have an accountability partner. Encourage yourself! It’s really amazing what you can do if you plan and set goals for yourself.
This is something that I’ve known for years but haven’t really put into practice. It’s amazing how much better you feel about yourself if you just try something you’ve always wanted to do. I have a writing goal because I want to be consistent on here and I’d like to write a book, as well. Some people have weight goals, or financial. But you know there’s something you dream of doing, right?
Call to action!
I’m encouraging you now to write that thing down, then plan the steps to get there. And find someone who will hold you accountable. Don’t choose a dream-squasher, though. Ask a friend who will be encouraging!
